About Event

Sick of dull knives? Come learn how to sharpen yours, or simply have them sharpened by us for free! Even a 1$ knife can be made razor sharp and last a lifetime.

What we'll teach you

  • How to use common equipment to sharpen any knife

  • What kind of equipment there is, what works, what doesn't

  • What to buy for your home

  • How to keep your knives sharp longer

  • What the actual difference between expensive and cheap knives is

  • The physics behind sharpness

and we'll answer any other questions you have about knives, sharpening, and material science.

Bringing your own knives

You can bring your own knives from home to have them sharpened, or sharpen them yourself with instruction. It just takes a few minutes, and it's free!

Please mind the following rules if you decide to bring your own knife:

  • Keep your knife wrapped safely in your bag at all times unless it's actively being worked on. Wrapping it in a few layers of paper towels and securing it with a rubber band works well.

  • Max 3 knives per attendee. If there is high demand, you might only get to sharpen one.

  • While it might be exciting to try out your newly sharpened knife right away - please refrain from doing so inside the Commons.

Additional Information

The event is open-end to make sure every attendee gets a chance to try it out, but we'll try hard to stick to the one hour duration.

Yes, the knives at the Commons will be sharp after this event.
