#StopCopCity | A City in the Forest - Film Sneak Peak for Funders, Organizers & Creatives | Hosted @ Hip Hop Caucus
LA Climate Week: A City in the Forest Documentary - Funder & Partner Screening | Hosted @ Hip Hop Caucus
In Atlanta, a diverse protest movement defends an urban forest from Cop City, a plan for the country's largest police training facility. A City in the Forest paints a prismatic portrait of the country’s most urgent social justice story, where a web of land defenders, police abolitionists, and climate justice activists fight back against militarization, environmental devastation, and the police killing of a land defender.
As the climate crisis accelerates and 70 more “Cop Cities” are planned in the US, this deadly crackdown erodes 1st Amendment rights, normalizes authoritarianism, and criminalizes environmentalism. A City in the Forest is a moving portrait of the resilience of a united community putting their bodies on the line against these crises.
Please join us at the Hip Hop Caucus office for this brief showcase of footage, a happy hour, and feel free to stay for a screening of the rough cut.
