Connecting Families Post-16: Independence & Emotional Well-Being in the Post‑16 Years
Parents and Carers of Post-16 Young People – Join us for a session on supporting young people’s emotional well-being and independence
We’re inviting you to a supportive session designed for parents and carers of vision impaired young people aged 16 and over. Hosted by the RSBC Family Support team, this session will explore emotional wellbeing in young people as they take important steps towards adulthood, and how you can support them through this journey.
Many parents have described the emotional challenge of encouraging independence while also feeling anxious about potential risks. This session will look at how these feelings link to emotional wellbeing for both young people and parents, offering practical ideas to build confidence on both sides.
This friendly and practical session will cover:
Understanding mental health and wellbeing in young people with a VI
Supporting VI young people to build confidence and resilience
Balancing independence and safety: developing life skills while managing parental worries
How RSBC can support families and young people with emotional wellbeing
What to expect:
A welcoming space to learn and ask questions
A chance to connect with other parents and carers
This session will take place online, and we’ll send you the Zoom details once you’ve registered for the event.
