About Event

Join us for a Doodle Head — A Beauty Justice happy hour with Black Girl Environmentalist, SOLA Market, and Environmental Justice leader, Arielle King! The New York Beauty Justice Act (Senate Bill S2057B / Assembly Bill A2054B) is proposed legislation aimed at banning intentionally added toxic chemicals and heavy metals from cosmetics and personal care products. Supporters argue it protects public health—particularly women and people of color exposed to harmful ingredients.

This happy hour gives you a space to learn about NY State's Beauty Justice Act by taking inspiration from our favorite herbs and botanicals you can use for better, simple skincare products you can even make at home. We will have examples of plants on the table for display and inspiration for our time drawing. This, paired with a cocktail and snacks, will make for a fun happy hour hosted at Brooklyn Library, Library for Arts & Culture.

1000s of plants help our common skin ailments, from inflammation to acne, exfoliation to needed nutrients + promoting moisturization. Natural plants give us a natural glow that goes deeper; with the right moisturizing base or good-for-you carrier oil, you can create skin and beauty care that is safer for you and the environment. ,
