About Event

Join us for the closing celebration of Climate Week featuring an Indigenous Fashion Show with Leo Cerda (Hakhu), an interactive library and film about Amazonian art by Rurban, and music by the legendary Eric Terena.

Indigenous communities stand at the frontline of environmental preservation and conservation efforts. Through a runway collection, Hakhu Amazon showcases sustainable practices through thoughtful selection and use of natural materials, bringing heightened consciousness and ethical awareness to fashion industries. With an interactive installation showcasing art in the Rurban Library, anyone can now also engage with and commission pieces from these talented artists living in the Amazon.

This event brings together creativity and leadership of Indigenous peoples shaping our collective climate future. Drinks served, and purchase original Indigenous creations in the market throughout the evening. This event is produced and made possible by OfrendaFest, Tribal Link Foundation, and is hosted by the Queens Council on the Arts.

8:00 PM — Doors Open
9:00 - 9:30 PM — Presentation, Film, and Conversation about The Rurban Library
9:30 PM — Hakhu Fashion Show
10PM — Music and beats by Eric Terena

Leo Cerda is a Kichwa leader, climate activist, and founder of the HAKHU Amazon Design, which was formed by community leaders and Leo Cerda, an environmental activist and member of the Kichwa Nation, as a way to provide income for people in these areas that are hard hit by oil exploitation. Hakhu’s goal is to create sustainable sources of income for indigenous people from the Amazon region so we can have an alternative to the extractive and destructive industries of oil, mining, lumber, and beef. @HahkuAmazon

Eric Terena is from the Terena community in Amazonian Brazil. A co-founder of the Indigenous multimedia collective Mídia Índia, Eric uses music and media to amplify Indigenous voices and movements worldwide. His DJ sets fuse traditional Indigenous sounds with global electronic beats, creating powerful bridges between ancestral knowledge and contemporary culture. @ericterena

Rebecca Hui is the founder of Rurban, a cultural platform bridging Indigenous artists with global design, fashion, and art. The Rurban Library is a growing archive of 20,000+ traditional and contemporary works from 50 Indigenous groups globally, enabling foundations for equitable storytelling, profit-share, and visibility from wherever they reside. @rurbanstudio

“Imagining Climate Futures" will also be on display, a showcase of 20 original works created by members of the 2025 Climate Storytelling 2075 Cohort—emerging artists, writers, and activists who envision a regenerative and just climate future fifty years from now @climatefutures.art

Ofrenda Fest Foundation and Tribal Link Foundation join to host "Indigenous Fashion Show" for a third year, combining their shared vision and expertise in Indigenous advocacy, cultural preservation, and climate action. This unique partnership creates a powerful platform for showcasing Indigenous talents while raising awareness about critical environmental issues through artistic expression. @ofrendafest @triballinkfoundation
