About Event

Cardano’s governance framework depends on broad participation, transparent decision-making, and meaningful distribution of voting power. The recent discussion around the concentration of Voting Power, delegation defaults, voter apathy, and low vote-rationale coverage shows that these are active governance issues that deserve serious public debate.

And for this very reason we are bringing it to a Roundtable Talk format. This Roundtable Talk will aim to create space to further examine whether Cardano’s current delegation dynamics are healthy, whether voting power is becoming too concentrated, and what practical steps can be taken to strengthen participation without undermining our core principles when it comes to decentalization and trust. The session will also help us move beyond frustration and into constructive dialogue

So briefly, how did we get to where we are now? Well…recent events, including concerns raised by the community around delegation patterns and the role of wallet defaults, have made it clear that governance design choices can have real and immediate impact. At the same time, responses from ecosystem actors show a willingness to engage, adjust, and openly discuss these challenges. This creates a timely opportunity to step back and assess the system more holistically. The goal is not to promote any side, zoom in on any specific entity or product, because the concentration of voting power is not something that is specific to any 1 person or entity - it is an ecosystem-wide challenge that should be addressed as such. The same applies when suggesting potential solutions on how to best solve or mitigate the concentration of voting power, as well as how to improve DRep (or CC) participation.
