About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with David Eagleman about the craft of writing and reality of building a creative career.**

What happens in the brain when imagination takes over? And how might understanding the mind change the way we write, revise, and create?

David Eagleman is a neuroscientist at Stanford University and an internationally bestselling author whose work sits at the crossroads of science, creativity, and storytelling. Known for his research on brain plasticity, perception, and the hidden workings of the mind, Eagleman has spent his career translating complex neuroscience into ideas that illuminate how we think, imagine, and make meaning.

Join us for a conversation with David Eagleman about the brain behind the writing life. Drawing from books including Livewired, Incognito, The Runaway Species, and his work on The Creative Brain, Eagleman will explore what neuroscience can teach us about creativity, attention, habit, and originality—and why so much of the creative process happens beyond conscious control.

We’ll explore:

  • What neuroscience reveals about creativity and original thought

  • Brain plasticity and what it means for learning, practice, and growth as a writer

  • The relationship between constraint, habit, and innovation

  • What The Creative Brain teaches us about artistic risk-taking

  • How writers can work with their brains instead of against them
