Opening Night: Luke Finsaas - Mechanical Sight

​We’re excited to announce that Luke Finsaas aka StudioRampage, one of our 1st-floor members, will be the next expositor in our Coffee Bar. The project Mechanical Sight explores how humans and AI perceive images — and how they're different.

​When you send an image to ChatGPT, the AI transforms it into a massive string of numbers – an “embedding.” This allows AI to move between images, text, and sound. Luke's project extracts these embeddings, visualizes them, and reveals a glimpse of what an AI “sees” when it looks at an image.

​The project highlights the boundaries between humans and machines, using a hybrid riso printing process: part manual, part automated, full of quirks and character.
