Mom Brain - A Reading and Conversation with Kaitlyn Teer from "Little Apocalypses" and Cup of Jo
We are honored and thrilled to announce that Kaitlyn Teer will be coming to Evanston—all the way from Western Washington State—to make an appearance at Mom Brain on Friday, September 11.
Kaitlyn is a senior editor at Cup of Jo, where she has interviewed writers like Roxane Gay, Barbara Kingsolver, and Chanel Miller. Her essays have appeared in Orion, Catapult, Electric Lit, Prairie Schooner, and elsewhere, and she has taught writing at Western Washington University. In the words of poet Kate Baer, Kaitlyn’s 2026 essay collection Little Apocalypses; Essays on Motherhood, Climate Change, and Hope at the End of the World is “raw, undeniable and tender … [digging] deep into what it means to parent in a heated world. Teer's voice holds both the ache of looming climate chaos and the unshakable hope that caring can change everything."
What is MOM BRAIN?
Each month, we invite a writer to share their own poetry or prose, followed by a loosely facilitated conversation. The session closes with our guest reading a kids’ book of their choice. Like story time, but with books for grown-ups too! Babies and kids welcome, but not required ✨
*Open to parents, caregivers, grandparents, chosen family, the parent curious, etc.
