About Event

The Third Mind invites you into the world of Arsh Raziuddin, creative director and designer behind some of the most widely read publications today.

Across her career, Arsh has shaped the visual language and strategy of institutions such as The Atlantic, New York Times and Bon Appétit. Additionally, as creative director of Acacia Magazine, a political and cultural publication for the Muslim left, she continues to challenge mainstream narratives and redefine Muslim representation in American discourse.

Her impressive range extends into book design, creating covers for Salman Rushdie’s Knife and Jennette McCurdy’s debut novel, Half his Age among many others.

The Conversation

We’ll talk through what it means to design across publications, and how Arsh found her way to the top of a field where few who look like her have been before.

From there, we’ll get into her process: how she approaches a blank page, the tools she works with and what shapes her decisions. We’ll also dive into the realities of working within institutions that don’t always reflect your values, and how to maintain your authentic voice while doing so. Finally, we'll chat about the language and world of design, and what it means to follow design principles in the world we live in today.

Come curious, bring your questions and be a part of the conversation.
