OpenAI Build Week Community Meetup - San Diego

​Join San Diego’s OpenAI Build Week community for an evening of lightning demos, practical Codex workflows, and building alongside other local developers and creators.

​We’ll celebrate projects created during OpenAI Build Week, hear directly from the people who built them, and learn how they used Codex and GPT-5.6 to move from an idea to a working product. After the showcase, stick around to meet collaborators, explore new ideas, and build with the community.

​Whether you use Codex every day or are opening it for the first time, you’re welcome. No prior Codex experience or Build Week submission is required.

​Challenge submissions close Tuesday, July 21 at 5:00 PM PT—the same time this meetup begins. If you are entering the challenge, submit your project before arriving.

​What to expect

• ​Concise live demos from local OpenAI Build Week participants

• ​Practical examples of how builders used Codex to create apps, games, agents, developer tools, and workflows

• ​Time to meet collaborators, help other builders, and experiment with Codex

​Build Week Lightning demo format

​Each presenter gets five minutes:

• ​30 seconds: the problem and intended audience

• ​3 minutes: show the working project

• ​1 minute: explain how you used Codex to build it

• ​30 seconds: share the result and what comes next

• ​5:00 – 5:30 Check-in, pizza, networking

• ​5:30 – 6:00 Welcome & Codex Updates - Dylan Barth (San Diego Codex Ambassador)

• ​6:00 – 7:15pm OpenAI Build Week Lightning Showcase

  • ​Demos pending confirmation with presenters

• ​7:15 – 8:30pm Build with Codex. Bring a project, idea, or question. Continue building, get help from other attendees, explore new Codex workflows, or meet potential collaborators for whatever you build next.
