​As the backbone of the global economy, SMEs face unique challenges but also hold the potential to drive significant environmental and social impact. Most lack in-house sustainability teams, dedicated budgets, or access to expertise, leaving little capacity beyond day-to-day operations. Meanwhile, large organizations rely on accurate supplier emissions data — much of it from SMEs — to inform strategic decisions, manage risks, and deliver on climate commitments.

​This session will explore how collaboration between SMEs and large organizations can accelerate Net Zero progress across industries, and showcase the BMO SME Climate Clinic, a program that supports resource-constrained SMEs by pairing trained university students with companies to calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions — helping them launch their sustainability journey without diverting focus from core priorities.
