​As the new year approaches, we’re bringing together a small group of EnergyTech investors for an off-the-record conversation on where Israeli EnergyTech stands, and what the ecosystem needs to get right in the year ahead.

​Several signals suggest the market is entering a new phase:

• ​Israeli energy startups are closing eight-figure seed rounds across cybersecurity, data infrastructure and energy development, with growing participation from generalist funds.

• ​Israel's four major renewable energy developers (Energix, Nofar Energy, Doral and Enlight) are increasingly investing directly in startups, technologies and venture funds.

• ​The Israeli Innovation authority has a record high of deployments into Energy companies, and the Public Utilities Authority (רשות החשמל) has established a dedicated innovation division, signalling growing governmental attention to emerging technologies and new business models.

​At the same time, the software moats that shaped the last venture cycle are being challenged by the rise of AI agents -  investors are looking past the application layer toward the infrastructure: realize that power is exactly what needed to power next phase of AI, pun intended. Founders have noticed the shift too. A new generation is entering the energy sector to work on large, difficult, consequential problems.
