Join Dr. Paula Goldman, Chief Ethical & Humane Use Officer at Salesforce, for a keynote and Q&A on her new book Manage the Machine: How to Harness Human-AI Collaboration at Work.
Goldman spent the past few years fielding an influx of questions from friends, from those who'd never cared about tech before to CEOs across every industry. The questions circled the same worry: what does AI mean for how we work, and how do we manage AI's risks?
Manage the Machine is her answer to these questions. A trained anthropologist, Goldman grounds the book in her direct research around the world. It draws on diverse case studies—from a small town council in England where employees rejected AI tools despite their benefits, to a bank in Singapore that got automation right by preparing its workforce ahead of time—drawing out what separates AI rollouts that build trust and get great results from those that do not.
Ultimately her research builds the case: keeping people at the center of AI transformation is the deciding factor. Across diverse business functions from product to people management, customer service to legal, Goldman will walk through what she's learned about leaders who have implemented the technology successfully.
She's joined for this conversation by Dr. Caroline Simard, Dean of Northeastern University Silicon Valley and a longtime researcher on career pathways, inclusion, and organizational change in the tech industry. A reception with book signing follows.
