heARTS and CRAFTS No.4: Let's Grow Together!
Schedule
9:30 AM - Workshop:
Designing Gardens, Building Ecosystems: an edible garden design workshop by Anamaria Gutierrez
In this workshop, we’ll explore the essential elements of creating a thriving edible garden, whether in your own backyard or as part of a community-centered neighborhood space. You’ll learn how to work with nature to cultivate a whole, balanced ecosystem—from the soil beneath your feet to the birds and pollinators above. Together, we’ll cover topics such as understanding your land and site conditions, building healthy living soil, exploring irrigation methods, managing pests while supporting pollinators, fostering biodiversity, growing seasonal vegetables in Central Texas, incorporating native plants, and much more.
After the presentation and a snack break, we’ll put our garden designer hats on and explore Dandelion House’s future garden site. This hands-on activity will give us a chance to put what we’ve learned into practice, observe the land, share ideas, and collaborate on an initial garden design that reflects the possibilities of this space and honors its community-focused mission.

About the artist
sayang (ilocano/tagalog for “what a waste!”) writes from the in-between—of cultures, identities, and moments that pass too quickly. They blend alt-R&B, soul, and jazz-laced grooves with vivid, lyric-driven storytelling. Their songs explore queer longing, impermanence, and shadow work; each release is an offering to feel, remember, and belong.
