Power + Possibility
Power is often described as something people hold. This series starts from a different vantage point: power is something we move through, absorb, and reproduce every day. Once we understand how, why and where power exists we can begin to reclaim our power and shift how power is wielded.
This three-part series explores the relationship between power and restorative justice, asking what it actually takes to move beyond punishment toward accountability, repair, and collective responsibility.
This series will begin with a level-setting session which will be a grounded examination of how power operates through discipline, surveillance, and disposability. The series then shifts into the dynamics of harm and accountability, before ultimately asking what it would mean to redistribute power in the process of responding to harm.
5|13: WHERE IS THE POWER? - Level-Setting Sesh
5|27: RECLAIMING POWER - Workshop (must have attended 5|13: WHERE IS THE POWER?)
6|3: EMBRACING POSSIBILITY - Workshop + Demo (must have attended 5|13: WHERE IS THE POWER? and 5|27: RECLAIMING POWER)
Participants will be invited to question how power shapes what we understand as justice. The goal of this series is not to dismantle and topple systems of oppression immediately, it is meant to plant the seed in the community that we have the power to reimagine something else.
