You Can Be at the Table or On The Menu: Government Advocacy 101 for Techies
"Be at the table or on the menu" is a classic political adage - you can either shape policy or be its victim.
Just because you're a techie, builder, or entrepreneur - it doesn't mean you shouldn't get involved or don't have a voice; in fact, that's one of your strengths. Policymakers and regulators need you to help educate them (or else a Mag 7 lobbyist will).
What you'll learn:
Why it's important to get involved in policy and regulations;
What are the mechanisms for getting involved and activated (campaigns, media, and lobbying);
How you can get started today
Who should attend? Any founder - technical or non- ; there isn't anyone untouched by a regulator, or who couldn't benefit from being a trusted advisor to policymakers.
What am I drawing on?
For over 15 years, I've been involved in government advocacy and policymaking, testfiying before Parliament 3 times, working as a strategy advisor to Ministers and Governments around the world, as an emerging tech fund VC, and Executive Director of non-profit organizations. I founded Canada's first advocacy DAO, coordinating Web3, AI, and quantum founders to lobby all 3 levels of government on crypto, AI, R&D, venture capital, privacy, and consumer rights policy & regulation.
