U-M EV Center Surge Session Webinar:
Current State of the EV Workforce
Date/Time: Tuesday, February 24, 2026 | 2:30-3:30 p.m. ET
How can Michigan meet the talent demands of an electrified future? And what’s actually working on the ground today?
In this timely and practical session, Ashlee Breitner, Managing Director of U-M’s Economic Growth Institute, will explore the current state of the EV workforce – from key industry needs and persistent skill gaps to effective programs, public-private partnerships, and data-driven strategies that are driving talent development.
Drawing on her work leading the Electric Vehicle Center’s Workforce Development pillar, Breitner will highlight examples of collaboration with industry and education partners, including community colleges, technical training providers, and the broader mobility ecosystem. She’ll also examine how workforce initiatives can ensure inclusive access to EV careers, with a focus on both short-term upskilling and long-term PK-12 pipeline development.
Attendees will come away with practical insights into how Michigan can build a stronger, more equitable EV workforce – and where their own organization might plug in.
This one-hour session will include a presentation followed by live Q&A.
