Grieving The Green Deal
An invitation for facing collapse together
The near-death sentence to the CSRD, CSDDD, the EU taxonomy, and the European Green Deal as a whole may have come as a shock to many working in the EU bubble and its peripheries. The prospect of a greener, fairer, economically more resilient European economy, being dismantled under the promised banners of efficiency and stability.
Worry in the face of accelerating destructive trends, fear for future generations, professional uncertainty, care for the victims of business-as-usual. And a good dose of overwhelm. With this session, Katrien Rennemeier and Jean-Philippe Steeger hold space for digesting this harsh reality.
Gently, with open ears and heart, we will feel into what is present for us. Observing. Sensing-in. Allowing whatever is there to be there. Without judgement or opinionating, we will share what is present to each of us, and perhaps for us together.
We invite you to take a step to look at where we find ourselves. What is revealing itself to us?
We ask
- What posture and gestures can I adopt when facing what looks like collapse?
- Which ways of meaning-making are no longer working right now?
- How may I reflect this phase of high uncertainty in my communications and business strategy?
- What does it mean to be in an in-between state, between endings and new beginnings?
- Which shadows are becoming visible in EU Affairs work today?
- How do we now tap into our values, agency and visions for the future, and use our individual and collective powers and opportunities to create something different moving forward?
This is a space for sharing and listening with care and compassion. We place a high value to creating a safe and welcoming space, without discrimination, without competing for a single truth, without pretending to know better.
We believe it is from a place of facing the current developments with honesty and depth that we can find the right next steps.
