Earth Day Plant Circle
We invite you to join us for a special Earth Day Plant Circle - an immersive online gathering held on 22nd April - to honour our relationship with the living world.
Together, we will connect with our Plant’s of the Week through a guided, reflective conversation that deepens our understanding not only of the plant itself, but of its physical, spiritual, and folkloric dimensions as a living, breathing being.
Marking the closing of a cycle of Plant of the Week on Substack, this circle offers a gentle, creative space to gather with fellow plant lovers; to write, sketch, reflect, and meditate in communion with the plant. Whether you come to listen, share, or simply be, you are welcome.
This space will be held by writer and journalist Yasmin Dahnoun of The Flowering Furnace, in collaboration with Evgenia Emets, artist, poet, and founder of Eternal Forest.
Join us as we celebrate Earth Day in reciprocity with our plant & tree allies.
Workshop overview
7pm ~ arrival & grounding
We’ll begin by arriving together, settling into the space with a short guided breathing meditation to help you land and ground.
You’ll then be welcomed by your hosts, Evgenia and Yasmin, who will share a little about their work and their relationships with the plant world. Yasmin will also introduce the Plant of the Week, offering some context, story, and sensory entry points for connection.
7:15 ~ creative practice
You’ll be guided through a short plant-connection ritual, followed by an invitation to write, sketch, or simply observe. Prompts will be shared to support your reflections, alongside a moment of quiet to sit with a particular plant.
7: 45 ~ group sharing
In breakout rooms, you’ll be invited to share (if you feel) what arose in your practice.
Prompts may include:
What sensations, feelings, images, or memories did the plant evoke?
How might we move towards a more relational way of being with plants, beyond what they provide for us?
7:50 ~ poetry reading
Evgenia will read from her poetry cycle Religar
8:00 ~ closing
We’ll gently close the session with a short grounding practice and a moment of gratitude.
