What Does the Mentorship Programme Involve?
Over six months, you will receive six one-to-one virtual tutorials with a dedicated mentor. Each session is designed to give you space to discuss your current inspirations, context, themes, questions, creative blocks, and next steps. Before each session, you’ll receive friendly question prompts to help you reflect and prepare.
To support your ongoing development, prior to the session you will recieve prompts to reflect on before the session to give us a little context of your headspace before we begin.
To make sure our discussions and ideas are captured, there will be a shared document that everyone can access and contribute to. This will serve as a living record of what we cover in each session, helping us stay organised, share insights, and keep track of key points as the course progresses.
Structure of the Course:
Session 1 (60 mins): Reconnecting with your practice – Understanding what you make and why it matters to you. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 2 (90 mins): Materials and play- We’ll explore how 2-4 relevant contemporary artists use materials and colour. Martha will share practical demonstrations on material and a colour-mixing masterclass to build your confidence in both. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 3 (60 mins): Pushing boundaries – Finding ways to go deeper and challenge yourself. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 4 (60 mins): Check-in – Reflecting on what’s working, what isn’t, and what we can learn from it. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
Session 5 (90 mins): Professional development with Claudia Kennaugh – A reflective conversation on your artistic journey, helping you define your goals and next steps.
Session 6 (60 mins): Bringing it together – Consolidating your progress and creating a clear path forward. (Tutor: Martha Lamont)
The six-month structure allows for a focused, in-depth exploration of your making and thinking, giving you time to develop your ideas and experiment with your practice. It also provides the opportunity to build a meaningful relationship with your tutors, who will support you in exploring your approach and developing how your thinking informs your work.
