Jillian Joy San Juan, designer and owner behind Jillian Joy Handcrafted, is at the forefront of a new generation of designers creating contemporary designs of the filipiniana, pushing for the cultural Filipino garment to be brought back into our every day lives. With a focus on the butterfly sleeves of the terno, the brand offers an everyday terno line of modern filipinianas that can be dressed up or down to suit any and all occasions, and specializes in custom made bridal filipinianas. Since the launch of Jillian Joy Handcrafted’s first mini collection of ready-to-wear ternos in 2020, the brand has gained an international customer base and has been featured in international press including the New York Times, CNN Philippines, and Omni News in Toronto.

Jillian is bringing her modern filipinianas to Vancouver for one day only at Tahanan Studio, a BIPOC-led arts and community space in the heart of Mount Pleasant. Join us on Saturday, August 16 as we celebrate Filipino Fashion. The day will start off with Jillian Joy's sought after Butterfly Sleeve Workshop (ticketed event) followed by the pop-up open to the public.
The Pop-up
The pop-up will be open to the public from 3 PM - 7 PM! This is your chance to shop Jillian Joy's bestselling modern filipinianas IRL! Bring your Ates, Kuyas, Nanays, favourite Titas, and fellow modern filipiniana lovers.
Why shop in person? You'll be able to see and feel the pieces yourself, take advantage of trying on pieces in person, and take them home with you without the hassle of shipping and handling, meet Jillian Joy herself, and shop pop-up exclusive pieces!
Getting to Tahanan Studio (310 E 5th Ave, Vancouver)
From Downtown: Take the #3 Main Street bus southbound. Get off at E 5th Ave, then walk east for 5 minutes.
From Commercial-Broadway Station: Take the #9 Broadway bus westbound. Get off at Main Street, walk south to E 5th Ave, and head east.
From Marine Drive Station: Take the #3 Main Street bus northbound. Get off at E 5th Ave, then walk east.

From Main Street-Science World (Expo Line): Walk 15-20 minutes south along Main Street or transfer to the #3 bus.
From Broadway-City Hall (Canada Line): Walk 15-20 minutes east along Broadway or take the #9 bus to Main Street, then walk south to E 5th Ave.
Parking Information
Street Parking: Free street parking is available on East 5th Ave and surrounding side streets, but it may be limited during busy times.
Paid Parking: Metered parking is available along Main Street and East Broadway, just a short walk from the studio.
