Refund & Transfer Policy:
Being a small, one woman run business, I am not able to offer refunds or transfers after 24 hours of registration. No Exceptions.
Why?
These are intentionally curated events that have had a high demand, and I account for each person to be there. This means paying for the venue per ticket, reserving machines, purchasing refreshments and hiring assistants based on the teacher to student ratio.
When you purchase a ticket, I arrange for you to be there, which means I invest money into each person so you can get the most out of your experience.
If I were to refund or transfer a ticket after accounting for you to be there, regardless if you can attend a future date, I would lose money. Unfortunately, I’m not a large corporation that can afford small losses here and there. Amazon might be able to absorb your return, United Airlines might be able to live without filling your seat on the plane— but being that its just me, a dream and hours of love and dedication to bringing you these events, I don’t have room to absorb those costs.
I totally understand— life happens, but unfortunately if I made exceptions to the rules for everyone, I would go out of business and not be able to offer this experience to you all anymore.
Why not offer a waitlist?
Let’s say Sally signs up for the waitlist for an event on Monday. Monday comes around and no one cancels, so Sally can’t go. By the time Monday came around, Wednesday’s event filled up. Sally didn’t sign up for Wednesday in advance, even though there were spots, thinking she’d get a spot on Monday. She gets on the waitlist for Wednesday, and doesn’t sign up for Friday. Wednesday doesn’t open up and now Friday is full. Sally has not signed up for the Friday event because she was hoping for Wednesday. Now it has been a whole week and Sally has still not learned how to sew :( Me and Sally both do not want that….
OR Lets say Sally is signed up for Wednesday but joins the waitlist for Monday. Monday opens up so she attends, and now there is a spot open on Wednesday. However it is only 2 days away, and all of those friends who signed up for Wednesday’s waitlist have made other plans, thinking they wouldn’t get in. I have already paid for the venue, assistants, fabric, machines & refreshments for all 16 students, but now only will have the ticket sales from 15. This means again, that I would have a loss that is not easily absorbed by a one-woman business.
***The only time I can make an exception is if you are able to find a replacement for yourself in the class within the same ticket type (borrowing a sewing machine or bringing your own) and you notify me 48hours or more prior to class, and they are registered within 24 hours of the class. I will not be doing the outreach to find your replacement****
I’m human too, and I understand things happen, but as a small business owner every dollar & hour matters and the only way I will be able to continue to offer these courses is if I uphold these policies. I hope you can understand the position that us small business owners are in :)
