Second Nature: An Evening with Overstories
What if caring for nature became second nature?
Art has always given us new ways to see the world. At Overstories, we believe it can change the way we see nature too, bringing people closer to the places, species, and stories that make our planet worth protecting. Our hope is to make that connection feel as natural as art itself, until caring for nature becomes second nature.
Join us at The Bench on September 23rd for a memorable evening with artists, storytellers, collectors, and friends of Overstories. The evening will feature the works of award-winning photographer Nick Brandt, whose art explores the intertwined lives of people, animals, and a changing planet; renowned artist Zaria Forman, known for her monumental pastel drawings of the beauty and fragility of polar landscapes; Christine Chiang, whose rare painting technique on antique Chinese works is practiced by only a handful of artists worldwide.
The evening will also feature an exclusive preview performance by Vildwerk with selected stars of the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group, under the direction of Bradley Shelver: a pas de deux from Fists & Feathers exploring the relationship between movement, humanity, and nature. As the evening unfolds, DJ Roselle will bring the room to life, curating the soundtrack for genuine connection and celebration of nature.
We'll introduce you to what Overstories is building and the people behind it, before opening the evening up to conversation and connection with the vibrant community we’ve brought together. Come spend an evening with us and explore what happens when art, culture, and nature become part of the same story.
