This immersive, hands-on placemaking walk invites participants to learn directly from the place.
Set in the historic neighbourhood of Fontainhas, one of Goa’s most vibrant “living laboratories,” the session brings together residents, practitioners, and placemakers to explore heritage lanes, local creative economies, and everyday practices of neighbourhood stewardship.
Format
Welcome & Introduction → Placemaking Walk → Group Reflection → Social Mapping Session → Closing & Next Steps
Expected Outcomes
🗺️ A graphical placemaking map capturing local assets, stories, and community vision
📖 Documentation of local knowledge, priorities, and lived experiences
💻 A shared digital social map for collective use
🌱 A lasting community resource to inform future planning and regenerative development
As part of the walk, SheCity will host a facilitated placemaking walk trail with a live gendered audit, examining safety, accessibility, care infrastructure, and the everyday experiences of women and marginalised groups in public spaces. This layer brings a critical gender lens to placemaking—highlighting how space is experienced differently and where design, policy, and stewardship can be more inclusive.
