CodeFest @ KUTech
Get ready for five days of high-energy, code-fuelled fun at Kingston University’s CodeFest, proudly hosted by the Kingston Tech Society (KUTech) in collaboration with Kingston University’s Faculty. Kicking off on March 2nd, 2026, our campus will transform into a playground for creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Whether you’re a seasoned developer or just starting your tech journey, CodeFest is designed to inspire and challenge everyone.
This year’s festival features three flagship events, each offering a unique way to build, compete, and create:
🎮 Game Jam – A 3-day creative sprint where teams design and build a game from scratch. The theme will be revealed on the day, pushing participants to think fast, experiment boldly, and bring ideas to life under pressure.
🚩 Capture the Flag (CTF) – A Jeopardy-style cybersecurity competition packed with technical puzzles, exploits, and logic challenges. Work through increasingly difficult tasks, earn points, and race your way up the leaderboard.
✨ Vibeathon (CodeFest Coding) – A modern twist on the traditional hackathon with three categories:
Pure Code – Classic, hands-on development.
AI-Assisted – Build with AI as your co-pilot.
No Code, Just Vibes – A fully AI-driven category where creativity, prompting, and ideas take centre stage.
Beyond the competitions, CodeFest is a space to connect, collaborate, and learn. Meet fellow tech enthusiasts, exchange ideas, and grow your skills in an energetic, supportive environment. The festival concludes with an exciting closing ceremony, where we’ll celebrate standout projects, crown our winners, and reflect on an unforgettable week of innovation.
To top it all off, industry professionals will be joining us throughout the event, offering insights, feedback, and real-world perspectives on tech careers, emerging trends, and building impactful projects.

To take part in CodeFest, you’ll need a Kingston Tech Society membership, just £5 for the entire year. It’s a one-time fee that gives you access to all KUTech events, workshops, competitions, and exclusives throughout the year. Not a member yet? No worries — you can grab one quickly via the Students’ Union website.
