🌿 Yoga for Queers in Barcelona

Let’s practice yoga, nourish ourselves, connect, build community, have fun and liberate together 💜

I’ve been longing for a space where Queers can come together beyond loud events, beyond alcohol, beyond fast‑moving spaces 🧞‍♀️🧚🏾‍♂️🧜🏽. This gathering is for Queers living in or visiting Barcelona who want slower, softer community through yoga and conversation.

After practice, you’re invited to grab tea/coffee/cake at a nearby café, hang out, talk, connect, build friendships and more. The inspiration to connect beyond the mat comes from the beautiful Yoga Community Project created by Matti in London – if you’re also longing for community here, come be part of this.

Quick links

🧘🏾‍♀️ What to expect

  • A mini‑retreat: 1.5–2 hours in the park

  • Practices from the wider yoga tradition:

    • āsana (postures)

    • prāṇāyāma (breath practices)

    • mantrā (aloud, whispered, or silent)

    • hasta mudrā (hand gestures/visualisations)

    • quiet meditation with a chosen point of focus

Because yoga is so much more than poses.

🧺 What to bring

  • Blanket, mat or towel (anything non‑slippery)

  • Small towel/cushion to support sitting bones, knees or head

  • Warm socks and layers/blanket for stillness and savāsana

  • Bottle of water

  • A tea cup – we share warm tea

Accessibility

  • Step‑free access and wheelchair‑friendly routes to the practice area

  • Grass surface (may be uneven or soft – please bring what you need for comfort)

  • Public toilet at ~450m and accessible toilets at Westfield Glòries (~900m)

  • Outdoors – please dress for the weather

🌱 Make it work for you

  • No prior experience needed.

  • Flexible practice: you will be offered options to suit different needs; the practice is yours – you are free to adapt, rest, or do something completely different if your body or mind asks for it 🛋️🦽🛏️

  • Supportive resources: PDFs and audio to support sitting and laying postures are available here: https://www.abyhasa.co.uk/meditation

💜 Who this space is for

This space is open to all Queers regardless of caste, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, body type or ability 🧚🏾‍♂️🧞‍♀️🦹🏿. I strive to create an inclusive and accessible space and deeply value your feedback – what works, what doesn’t, what you need more of. Direct, honest feedback is welcome.

I have completed a trauma‑informed course. I do not hold a clinical qualification, but I aim to apply trauma‑informed principles to the best of my knowledge, knowing that everyone’s trauma is unique. Your reflections help me better curate the practice for you.
