Virtual Global Expert Program: Chris Molloy
Chris Molloy is the Founding CEO of the UK’s Medicines Discovery Catapult, the national innovation centre for translational R&D. The Catapult is a vital pillar of the UK’s innovation ecosystem. It de-risks new productive technologies to make them useable; de-risks new biotechs to make them investible and runs global R&D collaborations that deliver impact in challenging sectors from AMR to dementia. It has leveraged £1.8bn in private capital into the sector over its first 10 years.
Chris has a 35-year international career in Life Sciences R&D and services across global pharma, Singaporean biotech, advanced informatics and professional services. He is a serial biotech chair and director, and a Trustee of the Institute for Cancer Research. In May he will leave the Catapult to lead the UK’s BioIndustry Association: the national trade organisation.
What we'll cover
This session will discuss what support SME’s and service companies can benefit from in a changing investment and licensing market. These include agile access to new decision-making technologies and ‘Pharma-class’ R&D expertise. Also to the right services, in the right places at the right time.
It will cover international R&D opportunities between Australia, UK and other nations supported by existing trade and regulatory alliances to speed up access to R&D services, trials, regulatory guidance and investment.
The session will also discuss the impact on the sector of AI, Real World Clinical Evidence and a wide range of advanced therapeutics starting with Cell & Gene Therapies, but also radiopharmaceuticals, nanomedicines and targeted drug delivery that will shape a new generation of high-value precision medicines.

About the Virtual Global Expert Program
Getting time with the right expert at the right moment can change the trajectory of a company. We're making that easier to access across WA.
This program connects WA innovators directly with international experts — people who have built companies, raised capital, navigated regulatory pathways, and opened international markets in the sectors you're working in.
Five themed virtual sessions with leading global practitioners, plus limited 1:1 office hours available to deep dive further.
Presented by the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub, with the support of the Government of Western Australia Department of Energy and Economic Diversification.
