Opening of Auntiescapes by niceaunties | Load Gallery
Join us on 7 May at Load for the opening of Auntiescapes, a new solo exhibition by niceaunties, part of her ongoing AI-driven Auntieverse project.
The Singaporean artist explores the cultural archetype of the “auntie” — a figure that, across many Asian societies, exists both as a familial role and a social label, often carrying assumptions about age, behaviour, and societal roles. Auntieverse reclaims this figure, transforming aunties into protagonists who move through speculative worlds shaped by humour, resilience, and self-expression.
Since its inception, the project has evolved both thematically and formally, shifting from explorations of social and community life towards environmental concerns. With Auntiescapes, this trajectory turns inward, centring on the body and its less visible dimensions such as energy, emotion, and the ways internal states imprint themselves onto physical form.
