Touch the Photo: Handmade Photo Albuming Workshop with David Onabanjo
In a reality where constantly curating digital archives has become a societal norm,—by choice or not—what might stepping back, slowing down, and using our hands reveal about the power of physical archives? Touch the Photo invites you to consider the practice of making a photo album as a tool for gentle accountability. How might collecting physical artifacts inspire us to make time for what is important and brings us genuine joy? In this workshop, you’ll piece together a personal hand-held photo album, through techniques intended to inspire a ritual, intention, or action of remembrance in your daily life. Touch the photos, and in turn, let the photos touch you.
Participants are encouraged to bring personal photographs, as well as small items from their daily life (event flyers, receipts, name tags, letters, fabric, postcards, etc.) that can be attached or scanned into your photo album. Collage materials, paper, and a scanner/printer will also be available for use.
