Kids Wholistic Creativity and STEM Class
Kids Wholistic Creativity and STEM Class, specifically created for kids from 2 to 12 years of age. Each one has their personalized exercises and space for creativity, play and learning.
It includes:
5 minute arrival exercise. Breathing, mindfulness, gentle movements.
10 minute Movement and Mind Body Connection. Gentle stretches, simple yoga poses, and light exercises to wake up the body, calibrate self regulation and concentration capacity, and release excess nervous energy and tension.
20 minute drawing, expressive writing, lettering and creativity exercise. A brief introduction to the practice of drawing freely, drawing anything they feel compelled to draw: landscape, cars, buildings, people, stories, characters, and so on. Then a brief introduction into the practice of expressive journaling, writing about their day, their thoughts, their feelings, their experiences, their ideas and learnings. For younger kids, just writing one letter, or holding the pen, or writing a word or sentence, whatever their level is, starting there.
20 minute STEM lesson. Some topic in Computer Science, Math, Technology or Engineering is explained, then the kids pair in groups of two and explain the concept in their own words, then they draw or write down what they know about it and how they understand it.
5 minute closing. We reflect on what we did, and open up for kids to share about what it was like for them, what they liked and didn't like, what they learned, what they were curious about and what they want to learn more about.
Notebooks, pens and pencils are provided. Kids can take the notebook with them and bring it to future classes, which build on top of each other and compound.
