The Met Presents First Major Exhibition on Man Ray’s Radical Reinvention of Art through the Rayograph

Featuring 160 rayographs, paintings, objects, prints, drawings, films, and photographs, Man Ray: When Objects Dream highlights the principal place of the rayograph—a type of cameraless photograph—within the context of many of the artist’s most important works
This exhibition includes thirty-five works by Man Ray which are part of the major promised gift of nearly 200 works of Dada and Surrealist art from Trustee John Pritkzer

Discover the surreal and revolutionary world of American artist Man Ray in Man Ray: When Objects Dream, a major exhibition at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in NYC. Running from September 14, 2025, to February 1, 2026, this exhibit is the first to explore Man Ray's groundbreaking "rayographs"—ghostly images made without a camera—alongside his most iconic Dada and Surrealist works.

Perfect for a Saturday night or a "Date Night at The Met" experience, this collection features over 160 pieces that redefined modern art.

Exhibition Highlights:

* A Landmark Collection: View over 160 paintings, sculptures, photographs, and newly restored films that trace Man Ray’s influence on modern art.

* Discover the Rayograph: Explore the mysterious, cameraless photography technique that captured the "dreams of objects" and defined his avant-garde style.

* See Iconic Masterpieces: Get up close with famous works like the landmark photograph Le violon d’Ingres and the surreal studded iron, Cadeau (Gift).

* Dada & Surrealist Centerpiece: See how Man Ray stood at the center of the 20th century's most important art movements through a stunning collection of masterpieces.
