Ask a Chief of Staff: Moved: How Chiefs of Staff Move a Room Through Constant Change
🗓️ Join us on May 12th!
In today’s workplace, change is constant — but people’s attention isn’t. Reorgs, new levels, AI disruption, shifting priorities. Chiefs of Staff are often the ones translating leadership intent into reality across functions, locations, and levels.
And yet, a familiar pattern repeats: the strategy gets communicated, people understand it…and nothing changes. This session tackles the gap between “we communicated the strategy” and “people are actually moving.” Because many alignment efforts create understanding, but not follow-through.
Lindsey Caplan — a screenwriter turned organizational psychologist — introduces the Moved Model, a behavioral-science-based framework for influencing groups in real time.
You’ll learn how to design the group moments baked into how work gets done—staff meetings, leadership forums, kickoffs, onboarding, rollouts—so people don’t just understand what’s changing; they feel reached, see their role, and move.
✅ This session is designed for Chiefs of Staff who are:
Driving transformation across teams or business lines
Accountable for alignment and adoption, not just message delivery
Tired of “clear updates” that don’t create follow-through
And often orchestrating the moment, even when someone else is the official owner of the change
🎯 You’ll leave with:
A simple 2×2 diagnostic for what your moments are actually producing (Compliance Inform / Entertain Engage)
Practical moves to shift a moment from understanding → ownership (without adding meetings)
A redesigned plan for one real moment you’re orchestrating in the next 2–4 weeks
Note: This event can only be experienced live. It will not be recorded.
🎙️ More about the Speaker
Lindsey Caplan helps leaders make major changes actually land across their organizations.
A screenwriter turned organizational psychologist, she works with executives on the high-stakes moments that determine whether people align, buy in, and act—strategy rollouts, reorganizations, leadership offsites, onboarding experiences, and other pivotal turning points where a “clear message” still isn’t enough.
Before founding The Gathering Effect, Lindsey worked in Hollywood on shows including Curb Your Enthusiasm and Malcolm in the Middle, where she learned how story, rhythm, and structure shape emotion—and how emotion shapes what groups do next.
She later moved into organizational psychology, holding learning and development roles at DreamWorks Animation, McKinsey, Zendesk, Credit Karma, and Flexport. Across industries, she saw the same pattern: smart strategies often fail not because they’re wrong, but because the moments meant to introduce them don’t move people. That became the focus of her work.
Lindsey holds a Master’s in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s in Communication and Creative Writing for the Media from Northwestern University. Clients bring her in when the stakes are high, the room matters, and the cost of a flat or forgettable moment is too great.
