When we don't have a father in our lives...

June 15th is Father's Day, some of us feel left out. When you add the compounding trauma of the climate crisis, wars, biodiversity loss, political division/chaos, and systemic racism, income inequality, etc., the holiday can feel a bit overwhelming.

The in-person joining is cancelled, this will be on Google Meet only.

Practice your personal resilience skills and learn how others practice self-care. We feel better when we're in a community of HLM --Humans Like Myself.

This is not a "clinical" space, it's just people that are experiencing overwhelming feelings sometimes and looking for others to connect with. We do not ask you to do anything, nor sign-up to volunteer for anything, nor do you need to feel pressured to speak— just listen if that's your comfort level, no pressure. We don't shame anyone for not taking any climate action or volunteering.

Hope welcomed.

Think of this like a Recovery meeting, like A.A., there's no cross-talk, people are sharing their own perspectives: Experience, strength, and hope (or lack there-of), again, no judgement. It's mindfulness that we strive for and learn about.

Experience this.

This is a Belonging Circle EXPERIENCES format. We ask you to do a thing or participate with a thing. This one, obviously is grounding with the sand and the water, but, we also are asking you to bring some good poetry to share with the group. Read it and then, if you're comfortable, share what it means to you. We'll also do some somatic movement and mindfulness meditation.

A personal resilience practice.

Why should we uncover our feelings? We will talk about it.

This is NOT group therapy. It is an opportunity to dig in, ask questions and feel community connection with other concerned folx. Saying the quiet part out loud is empowering.

Climate Circles are a system of clima-unity.

Coming together in a Circle like this, gives each participant a chance to simply listen to perspectives of others. How does the changing climate, and everything before it, during, and the aftermath of its wrath— how do each of us take this into our continuum of understanding the natural and built world.

Understanding.

Our 3-step approach is something to be practiced over time. We hope you will consider joining other from the Pacific Northwest to give yourself grace, to practice "self" personal boundaries, and prioritize self-care in community with others either with a Belonging Circle like this or otherwise.

For immediate help with eco-anxiety

  • Text or call the 988 Lifeline. Literally, use 9-8-8 on your phone to reach someone that will provide "judgement-free care".

  • Directory of "Climate-Aware" therapists in North America from Climate Psychology Alliance, NA.

CANCELLATION POLICY. In-person Circles will shift to an online format if less than 2 people are registered, up to 2-hours before its start time. The site location will be cancelled and the Circle will take place online only. Please plan accordingly. Thank you for understanding. Both, our facilitators' time and yours is valuable.

For any Circle, please let your facilitator know if you are no longer able to attend by replying to a reminder email. Volunteer facilitators put a lot of time and care into planning a thoughtful and engaging meeting for participants. Thank you for your consideration.
