What really happens to your recycling?
What really happens to your recycling?
This is an interactive community workshop designed to help residents understand how to recycle right under Ontario’s evolving system and why it matters.
The objective is to build confidence in everyday recycling decisions while introducing the bigger picture of how materials move through the system, including the role of Circular Materials and the shift toward a more Circular Economy approach.
The workshop is open to all residents, especially households, families, and anyone who wants clearer, simpler guidance on what goes where. Participants will walk away with practical knowledge of correct sorting, a better understanding of what happens to their materials after collection, and a few easy habits they can apply right away to reduce waste.
The session will be hands-on and engaging, featuring a live sorting activity, myth-busting, and a guest speaker from a plastics reclaimer who will demonstrate how materials are processed and why proper recycling makes a real difference.
