“The Human vs. The Machine: Curation, Creativity, and the AI Shift”. Curated by Women in Art Fellowship (WAF)
Artist & Education Panel — Crossroads of Practice
6:00–8:00 PM
Panel Synopsis: “The Human vs. The Machine: Curation, Creativity, and the AI Shift”
Curated by Women in Art Fellowship (WAF)
As art and technology intertwine more tightly than ever, this conversation explores how creatives, curators, and brands can embrace technological tools without losing the human essence that gives meaning to artistic practice. Moderated by Astrid Sauer, curator and cultural strategist known for bridging artistic practice and institutional dialogue, the discussion “The Human vs. The Machine” examines the balance between intuition and innovation — asking how we can use AI and digital systems as collaborators rather than replacements for creative thought.
Delfina Sena, Project Manager at Artpool and involved with 100 Collectors, brings expertise in digital art curation and bridging traditional and Web3 ecosystems, offering insights on collector-artist connections in the digital age.
Emília Ferreira, writer, art historian, critic, and former Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art (MNAC), provides an institutional perspective on integrating technology while safeguarding the emotional and cultural integrity of collections.
Contemporary artists Le Brimet, who explores generative design, digital fabrication, and the symbiosis between human and machine, and Vera Fonseka, WAF finalist investigating AI's impact on perception and identity through painting and collage, share practitioners' views on how digital tools extend artistic expression.
Together, the panel traces a path through the evolving landscape of human creativity in an age increasingly shaped — and questioned — by intelligent machines.
