Climate Week Hackathon: UN Association of Chicago x Climate Solutions Studio
❇️ Are you an emerging leader interested in building climate solutions? Join us for a chance to form teams and brainstorm new ideas that solve real client challenges and advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals - with support from local leaders that work on these challenges every day.
❇️ Think of this as a mini-capstone course or case competition, only without the pressure of grades or lack of motivation. You'll be working in diverse teams of people who care equally as much about the climate crisis as you do, and bring unique background + expertise to collaborate during this week-long event & beyond.
❇️ Participants will receive signed certificates of completion by the UN Association of Chicago as an acknowledgement of your contributions to sustainable development.
Here's how it works...
Pre-Climate Week: Secure your ticket for the Sustainable Development Goal you are most interested in working on. No other prep work required - just come ready to ideate & collaborate!
🗓️ Saturday, July 18: Receive your assignment from Chicago-based sustainability leaders (public + private sector), describing their challenges related to SDGs 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production) and 13 (Climate Action). You'll then receive some advice from local leaders on what to consider when developing a successful solution, and connect with your team you'll be working with throughout the week.
🗓️ Saturday, July 25: At the conclusion of Climate Week, teams will pitch their proposed solution to their client and a panel of other leaders in the sustainability space. Winners will be chosen for each challenge and celebrations will continue at the Marketplace of the Future!
Post-Climate Week: This event is just the beginning of our community! While we have a limited number of spaces available for our Climate Week debut, we intend to host recurring events throughout the year for folks like you that are interested in designing better systems to solve real sustainability challenges. UN Association of Chicago, in partnership with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA), works with foreign policy leaders, policymakers, academic institutions, nonprofits, and other organizations to advance knowledge, promote understanding, and spark informed dialogue and innovative ideas around the mission and work of the United Nations and its specialized agencies.
