Toronto Tech Week x Loop Tech Talk 3: Frontend DX That Scales: Next.js, Storybook & GraphQL Federation at Loop
Join us for our Toronto Tech Week x Loop Tech series!
What we'll cover: How Loop built a frontend developer experience that accelerates feature delivery while maintaining quality. From a unified component library in Storybook to seamless multi-service data fetching via GraphQL federation — and how the Next.js proxy pattern enabled a smooth migration from legacy without downtime.
Key topics:
Storybook as the single source of truth for UI components
Building and rolling out a design system alongside a platform migration
Apollo Client + federated GraphQL schema for unified data access across 10+ domain services
The proxy pattern: Next.js rewrites to seamlessly route between new and legacy apps
Vercel edge functions for auth (Cognito) and performance
Measuring impact: developer velocity and customer UX improvements
Meet the presenter:
Sumedha is a Senior Frontend Engineer at Loop Financial. She moved from Bangalore to Toronto, from platform engineering at Postman to fintech at Loop, from writing code to also writing the AI that reviews the code. She has spent her career at the intersection of "this should be faster" and "why does nobody else care about this", which, it turns out, is just good frontend engineering.
So come along, grab a beer and learn something new!
