SCetch Camp Markers — Value & Contrast
In this SCetch Camp session, we’ll explore how to make marker drawings look stronger, clearer, and more professional through one of the most important basics of art: value and contrast.
Markers are perfect for bold, clean, expressive illustrations — but many drawings can feel flat when light and shadow are missing. In this lesson, we’ll learn how to separate light, midtones, shadows, cast shadows, and highlights in a simple and understandable way.
We’ll start with a small warm-up exercise to understand value zones, then create a final marker illustration using a simple motif such as an object, animal, flower, fruit, cup, or fantasy creature.
No previous experience is needed. We are here to explore, try things out, and learn together in a soft, creative, cozy atmosphere. Materials are provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own markers or favorite sketchbook if you like.
You’ll learn:
How to use light and shadow, how to create depth with markers, and how to make your illustration more readable and expressive.
