Architecting OpenClaw with Safety in Mind
Overview
Architecting OpenClaw with Safety in Mind is a 3-hour, hands-on workshop for technical beginners and intermediate users who want to move beyond AI chat interfaces and leave with a working, security-conscious OpenClaw setup they can actually use.
Workshop
You’ll install OpenClaw, configure it inside a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS environment running on your Mac or Windows machine, connect only the access it truly needs, and learn how to think about permissions, trust boundaries, and least privilege from the start.
Skills You'll Walk Away With
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a solid understanding of what OpenClaw is, plus a secure foundation for installing, configuring, and using it responsibly in real workflows. You’ll also gain the practical judgment to spot risky defaults, avoid common setup mistakes, and make better decisions as you expand it later.
Intended Audience
This workshop is designed for technical beginners and intermediate users who are comfortable using the terminal and want a safer, more professional way to work with agentic AI. It is a good fit for developers, technical professionals, security-minded builders, IT-minded power users, and domain experts who are comfortable with technical tools and want to move beyond basic chat interfaces into real setup, configuration, and responsible use.
Minimum Requirements
You’ll need a Mac or Windows laptop, admin access to your machine, and comfort using the terminal. During the workshop, you’ll run a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 LTS environment on your computer, so you should be prepared to install and use the required virtualization setup before class. You’ll also need an active ChatGPT Plus subscription and be comfortable working with configuration files, local installs, and permissions.
