Visualizing Transit Data with the MTA (Day 2)
Join the MTA and CUNY's PIT Lab for an open house to help us shape the future of how we publish and visualize open data. Check out some of our favorite usages of MTA data and make some of your own!
What
MTA data engineers, data scientists and/or policy folks will be present to be a resource to help use our open data, share our favorite visualizations, and gather feedback for the two following questions:
What datasets do you want to see the MTA publish? The MTA publishes over 200 datasets on the New York State open data portal, from detailed bus maps to elevator service info. But what data do you want to see published? What data questions do you care the most about?
How should the MTA visualize our data? We are redesigning our MTA Metrics site, which visualizes a subset of our open data, to make it easier to use and more relevant to our stakeholders. How would you like to visualize data? How would you like to be able to share it?
Feel free to drop in and drop out anytime in your registration block. Registration is not required to attend, but is helpful for headcount and staying connected (if you wish).
Who this is for
Anyone who has an interest in the future of transit data for the largest system in North America! From educators to students, from analysts to engineers, from policymakers to curious customers, we're here to help and hear your feedback.
About
MTA Data & Analytics is the analytics arm of the largest public transit agency in North America. We have teams of data scientists, data engineers and data advocates to refine our internal data and share out information relevant to all our stakeholders.
CUNY Public Interest Technology Lab, in partnership with Beta.NYC, brings artists, community and civic partners, researchers, entrepreneurs, activists, data scientists, and tinkerers to demo their Public Interest Technology projects and build collaboration between those groups.
