Beyond the Classroom: Rethinking How We Capture Student Growth

​Students spend thousands of hours learning beyond the classroom: on teams, in clubs, through community programs, and building projects. For many, these become the most meaningful parts of their growth journey 🌱.

​For many young people, these experiences become some of the most meaningful parts of their growth journey.

​At the same time, a few challenges show up again and again:

• ​Students and families can sometimes find it challenging to turn student enrichment experiences into a clear long-term story of skills and accomplishments

• ​Extracurricular achievements are scattered across many programs and platforms

• ​Skills develop over many years and across many settings, but are not always easy to track over time

• ​Educators, coaches, and program leaders often see meaningful growth but may not always have ways to express it

​This session will:

• ​Share patterns and insights we’re seeing across the extracurricular landscape

• ​Explore how extracurricular development is evolving in today’s education ecosystem

• ​Highlight emerging approaches and tools that help make student growth more visible

• ​Bring together educators, program leaders, and innovators who care deeply about supporting student growth outside the classroom
