About Event

We invite you to join Basilica Bio for an afternoon of restoration through basket weaving!

We cannot wait to take you to Salmon Creek Ravine with Burien Forest Steward Jeanne Salter for an afternoon of restoring our ecosystems and weaving beautiful handmade art out of ivy. For the first part of the event, we will remove and harvest invasive English Ivy. Then, Jeanne will guide each participant in weaving a hand-made basket. You will leave this event with new friends, community, and the ability to work with nature to create art. 🌱🧺

In this hands-on community workshop, we will:
✨ Learn how to turn invasive ivy into art
✨ Learn best practices for restoration
✨ Connect with our more-than-human communities
✨ Explore how care, attention, and relationships shape ecological possibility

Each participant will leave with:
🧺 A beautiful, hand-made ivy basket
📖 Zines about restoration ecology
🌱 Restoration skills
🫂 The power of community and friendship

🧤No experience necessary! All tools and gloves for restoration and weaving provided!
