Nucleate RI | PATH:Aging & Longevity
Event Overview:
Join Nucleate Rhode Island for a panel exploring the science and translation of aging and longevity. How are discoveries in aging moving from the lab toward therapeutics, biotech ventures, and real-world applications? What opportunities and challenges arise when translating aging research into clinical impact? Hear from researchers and innovators from Brown University’s Center on the Biology of Aging as they discuss the emerging science of longevity, and what it takes to move scientific discoveries beyond the lab toward improving human health.
Special thanks to our regional sponsors, RILSH and CIC Providence, for making this event possible.
This event will take place at CIC Providence, 225 Dyer St.
Panelists:
Meet the Speakers & Panelists
Dr. Justin Fallon — Professor of Medical Science at Brown University & Co-Founder of Bolden Therapeutics
Dr. Fallon’s research examines the mechanisms that maintain neural connections and support the generation of new neurons, with the goal of developing therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. As a co-founder of Bolden Therapeutics, he brings extensive scientific expertise and entrepreneurial experience to the translation of academic discoveries into therapeutic innovation.
Dr. Bess Frost — Professor of Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and Biochemistry & Salame-Feraud Director of Brown University’s Center for Alzheimer’s Disease Research
Dr. Frost’s research advances our understanding of how disease-associated tau drives neuronal damage in Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Her work spans fundamental discoveries in brain aging and neurodegeneration through a Phase IIa clinical trial arising from her team’s findings. She brings a distinguished perspective on translating mechanistic insights into potential treatments for neurodegenerative disease.
Dr. Sean E. Lawler — Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine & Co-Director of the Brain Cancer Research Program at Brown University’s Legoretta Cancer Center
Dr. Lawler’s research integrates cancer biology, neuroscience, immunology, and bioengineering to develop new therapies for brain cancer. His team investigates drug delivery across the blood-brain barrier, strategies to harness innate immunity, and the role of cytomegalovirus in glioblastoma. He brings a multidisciplinary perspective on translating discoveries in tumor biology into innovative treatments for some of the most challenging cancers.
