Kodo: Luminance at Stanford Live

​One of the most beloved taiko groups, Kodo explores the limitless possibilities of traditional Japanese drums with a practice rooted in their home of Sado Island. In Japanese, kodo can mean “heartbeat,” the primal source of all rhythm, as well as “children of the drum.” This program includes signature pieces honed through decades of world tours, including the mighty O-daiko drum solo and climactic Yatai-bayashi finale. They also pay homage to Maki Ishii’s masterpiece Monochrome, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026, and present new works by Kodo members and guest artists.

​This is a co-promotional event in our inaugural Arts from Japan Season, presented by our partner, Stanford Live. For this co-promotional performance we've secured a limited block of premium tickets reserved for our members and friends, so we can experience this concert together.

​These tickets are offered for sale first to our Arts from Japan Founding Donors, then to our Leadership Circle, and then to our broader membership as availability allows. Once our allotment is purchased, we're happy to connect our members directly to our partner's box office, where a member discount rate is often available.
