[Climate Week NYC 2026 Event] Capital at the Crossroads: Balancing Impact, Innovation, and Sustainable Growth

​This Climate Week NYC event examines allocation of climate capital and strategies for ensuring it delivers near-term impact, leverages new and emerging technologies, and incorporates the infrastructure and ecosystems that make sustainable innovation possible.

​The discussion is structured around three “buckets” of climate investment capital and how each strategy impacts climate change, including the pros, cons, interrelationships, and trade-offs between each.

The three buckets include investments in companies or assets that:

• ​Deliver near-term, measurable climate impact, e.g. renewables, energy storage, industrial retrofits;

• ​Lean towards a longer-term climate impact and typically involve new and emerging technologies with significant cost, risk, and innovation, e.g. cutting-edge tech, novel chemistry, software;

• ​Keep the innovation and investing ecosystem itself sustainable but carry carbon footprints of their own, e.g. data centres, semiconductor fabrication, critical minerals mining.
