Sofia Startup Society #001

​Sofia Startup Society is a monthly evening for people building tech companies in Sofia, and for the founders and investors who have done it before.

​Most of what you need to know to build a company never gets said on a conference stage. It comes from honest conversations with people a few years ahead of you, and from meeting the right person at the right time. In Sofia, both still depend too much on luck and on who you already know. We want them to happen every month, so more tech companies get built in Bulgaria.

​Opening night - two ways to build a global company from Sofia

​Some founders raise money from funds early. Others build with little or no outside money.

​First, Stoil Vasilev, co-founder and CEO of Paypercut, walks through the process behind their €5M seed round. Then we sit down with Mario Peshev, founder and CEO of DevriX. He started as a freelancer in the 2008 recession and has bootstrapped the company for 16 years.

​Over drinks in the last hour, tell people what you're building and what you need next, whether that's a co-founder, your first engineers, customers or capital. Someone else may need what you know.

We have prepared some surprises and presents for the most active community members.
