[Collective Footnotes #4] A Rant About "Technology" by Ursula K. Le Guin
About the session
Collective Footnotes is our new monthly reading series by offDAC + Institute of Machine Unlearning
Collective Footnotes is an attempt at a book club, and an attempt to unlearn book clubs at the same time. Also a gentle way of holding ourselves accountable to the reading lists that keep growing faster than we can finish them.
We'll meet online once a month to slowly work our way through books, essays, articles and open tabs that have been patiently waiting on our reading lists, to expand the ways we can practice reading otherwise, by following tensions, rabbit holes and connections that emerge between the lines.
For our fourth and final session of this year we'll be reading A Rant About "Technology" by Ursula K. Le Guin asking questions like:
→ What do we talk about when we talk about “technology”?
→ Who gets to decide what counts as advanced?
→ Can we live with technologies we cannot repair or understand?
