Whitepaper Reading: Intent-Based Markets
Heyyy you👋🏼. We’re kicking off Whitepaper Reading Club in Lagos.
If you’re the kind of person who wants to actually understand protocols (not just repeat threads), pull up. This is for builders, security researchers, and research-leaning folks who enjoy reading primary sources and arguing through assumptions, incentives, and failure modes.
Topic: What are Intents and How are they designed?
Intents flip the usual flow. Instead of “submit exact transactions,” users say, “here’s the outcome I want.” Execution is then handled by competitive solvers/relayers.
We’ll ground this in real implementations from UniswapX, NEAR intents, CoW Protocol, etc. Then we’ll pressure-test the idea: what’s the minimal definition of an intent? What exactly gets outsourced — matching, routing, settlement? Which design choices matter most for incentives and safety?
That’s the conversation for meetup #1.
