About Event

Join RSBC and our partners VICTA for a day filled with chat, information and activities for families with an early years child (0-5) who is blind or partially sighted.

Our friendly and welcoming team will be there to greet you and guide you through a full day of support, learning, and connection. A range of specialists will be on hand to answer your questions and share their expertise on all things early years.

We have a full day planned for you and your family, and of course it will be a great chance to meet other children and families too!

Throughout the day, we'll be covering key topics such as:

  • Early developmental play and movement – practical ideas to support your child’s exploration, mobility, and confidence

  • Getting sleep right in the early years – helpful guidance and strategies for establishing healthy sleep routines

  • Accessible technology – you’ll have opportunities to see demonstrations of the latest technology and discover useful resources.

To help you make the most of the day, a staffed crèche will be available for children and siblings up to age 11. The crèche team has received specialist VI advice and training from RSBC’s Habilitation Specialist. Please note that all children (except newborns) will need to be in the crèche so that parents and carers can fully benefit from the activities without distractions.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided so you can relax and enjoy your time with us.

The event will take place at InFocus Charity, Topsham Road, Countess Wear, Exeter, EX2 6HA. Exeter is easily accessible by car from the M5, A30, A38 and A380. If travelling by train, Exeter St David’s station is nearby and has a taxi rank outside the main entrance to the station. Alternatively you can travel to Exeter Central train station and walk to either of the city centre bus stops that serve Topsham Road.

If you have any questions about the event or the crèche, please contact Harriet, Family Activity Coordinator, at [email protected]. Or if travel costs create any challenges for you, please reach out quoting this event and we may be able to offer some support.

You can find out more about our brilliant partners VICTA at www.victa.org.uk and chat with them on the day about the services they provide.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family!
